Weekend Box Office: June 26 -June 28

This week Ted 2 was unable to beat out Jurassic World for the top spot,and was unable to even get the second spot as Inside Out was eyeing that spot. The dinasour film managed to hold onto #1 at the box office for the third weekend in a row.

Ted 2 was against 2 forces, Universal’s Jurassic World, and Pixar’s Inside Out. Jurasic World cashed in $54.2M while Inside Out cashed in $52.1M. The R rated comedy sequel managed to pull in a dissapointing $33M as Universal was expecting at least $40M.

Ted (the first one) debuted with an impressive $54.2M and made $549.2M worldwide. Ted 2 was also expected to be this summer’s biggest comedy, but Ted 2 only made $4M more than the other R rated comedy Spy. Universal said the cause of this was because of “sequel-itis”.

Jurassic World is also now the 8th highest grossing film of all time worldwide just beating out Iron Man 3, it is also expected to  surpass Frozen very soon. Domestically it is now the 5th highest grossing film of all time. Just beating out big guns such as Star Wars: Episode I: The Phantom Menace, Avengers: Age of Ultron, and the original Star Wars, By next week it is expected to surpass The Dark Knight.
