Flash Season 2 News from SDCC 2015

San Diego Comic Con is underway and there’s no end to the oncoming horde of news, but have no fear. I’ll be hear to hold your hand and guide you through the slew of posts to the real news. Flash Season 2 is already underway and we’ve heard our fair share of what’s to come in the life of Barry Allen.

Let’s get the obvious out the way: It’s been confirmed that Gorilla Grodd will be returning along with familiar members of the Rogues. So expect to see Peek-A-Boo, Weather Wizard and others return from the shadows. And in case you’ve missed it Mirror Master and Doctor Alchemy have been confirmed to debut in Season 2 with Mirror Master supposedly playing a key role in understanding the inter-dimensional rifts of time and space.

Several castings were dropped at the SDCC Flash panel and we will give you the brief-run down now of them now.

Teddy Sears has been cast as the Jay Garrick iteration of Flash! We saw a teaser of him when his helmet appeared through the wormhole in the Season 1 finale but now we know he will appear for good. Fan theories had it that John Wesley Shipp who plays Henry Allen would be Jay Garrick but this casting debunks that theory. While his presence in the show is currently unknown he could possibly be a mentor to Barry.

Shantel VanSanten has been cast as Patty Spivot! Comic readers will identify her as a love interest of Barry Allen in the New 52 DC Continuity and it appears she will be a love interest now, so all you Barry-Iris shippers still have to wait a bit. Andrew Kreisberg said he wanted a Felicity-type character on the show and Patty fits the role perfectly.

Now no news on the casting choice has been decided but it has been confirmed that Wally West Flash will appear in Season 2! That is at least 3 speedsters running around that we know of now! It’s safe to assume that the show will stick with the African-American Wally West seen in the New 52 continuity which will definitely work. Could he be Barry’s protege?

Remember how we said 3 speedsters? How about 4? Except this one isn’t so nice because it has been confirmed that Zoom will be the big bad of Season 2 of The Flash. There is a definite difference between Reverse Flash and Zoom so if you are a bit puzzled don’t worry for now. The showrunners confirmed that Zoom will be introduced early on into the show so we will probably spend the season learning about his past.

That’s all we know for now but stay tuned for more news regarding Arrow, Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, Deadpool and X-Men: Apocalypse!
